Classic Blogger Favicon Fix!!
I was missing my favicon on Buttermilk Clouds, which happens to be a classic blogger template. I tried several different things and nothing worked until I tried this.
In your template (towards the top) find this:
<$BlogMetaData$>Then place the following code right after it.
<link rel="icon" href="FAVICON URL" type="favicon" />
<link rel="shortcut icon" href="FAVICON URL" type="favicon" />
If you have the new blogger template (formerly known as blogger beta) there is a fix for them, also.
Pretty easy. I really love my favicon, and I'm very upset with Blogger for attempting to do away with it. Shame, shame on you Blogger!

I love it when I stumble into neat little blogs like this one. There are so many blogs out there and so many of them are a waste of time. I like the blogs that help you in some way. Like this one! I dont use favicons though.

I have not noticed any issues with my favicon since I have been with wordpress. I am not saying anything bad about blogger but can't offer any help. I have become a huge fan on favicon and can understand why you would be upset about loosing it. Good luck in getting it resolved.

FYI, your favicon @ Buttermilk Clouds doesn't work with IE7. :(

@Oliver, yes...I don't have a private domain, and I have a personalized favicon!

I think Blogger should provide all their users more templates to choose from. The templates they have available right now may be good enough to people new to blogging and people who are used to blogger giving them classics but for bloggers like me and thousands of others who likes to be unique and different, we find Blogger's templates to be utterly dull and boring. While it is true that you can personalize your own blog by playing with HTML and CSS, not everybody can do that. Good thing, someone like you came along to provide people with how-tos. You are heaven sent, did anyone ever tell you that?
I' ve never used Favicom, it's real the rumour that hace a Favicom helps to appears better positioned in search engines?

Yeah, that typicall operation to get your favicon working. I guess that in configuration of a software you use should be a right place to set up FAV ICON in human-like way. In my opinion your solution to this problem is best.
Fix for "missing" favicon for old classic Blogger template. If you are using the old classic Blogger template instead of the New Blogger

Thanks a bunch Annie - I run a Magento site, and the frackin' favico starts as the M and then changes to the favico I want. This should help a ton.
