Straw Poll - social bookmarks
I wanted to see where everyone stood on bookmarks, and what is the most popular. Sorry if I left out your favorite...just leave a comment.
Labels: BlinkList, del.icio.us, Ma.gnolia, Poll, Web2.0
Due to,happily, a steadily increasing readership, I'm not able to answer or solve all comments/problems. I do keep track of them and answer what I can as time allows. This is my attempt to balance home and blog.
To add a link in this comment, copy and paste this code in the comment window: <a href="URL">seen on post</a>
Change URL and seen on post. For instance, to have a link to BlogU, the code would look like this: <a href="http://bloggeruniversity.blogspot.com">
BlogU</a>
To use the DOFOLLOW attribute on this blog, please remember to use the NAME/URL option when commenting rather than linking to your profile page for more exposure!

I don't even use social bookmarks. Memo to self: must research.
Have been meaning to ask - do you have a hack where you can read your archives where the first post comes on top and then goes on till the end of the mont, instead of in reverse, i.e. so you're reading chronologically from top to bottom?
@beks, Hi! I like social bookmarks because wherever I go, I have access to my bookmarks. Very handy. I'm getting ready for work, but I'll look later and see if I can help with the order of posts.
Thanks Annie!
I've used yahoo toolbar and my yahoo (yahoo customizable home page) to hold my bookmarks for years. I still do it because they're easier to handle than bookmarking with IE, and there is the added benefit of being able to access them on other computers. Even though I rarely need to, it has come in handy before.
I don't think it's anything like the whole network thing sites like delicious have going on. I have rarely looked into those kinds of sites and don't even really know what all they offer. I never heard of most of these sites before this poll of yours.
I never have felt a need to make all my bookmarks available to everyone, and in fact, don't think I'd like to.
@alice, I think Yahoo probably has most of the features I enjoy, mainly being able to access bookmarks from anywhere. As far as making all your bookmarks public, there is a private feature on most sites I've found. But, for the most part, I make all of mine public. I have found some great sites that I would of never found by looking over the public bookmarks in BlinkList!
@Beks, well, I looked for the reverse recent/previous post hack because I thought I had a post. But, I didn't find it. I think I remember reading about it for classic blogger. I will look into it for beta. I can't promise soon ...so much going on with the holidays coming up and my daughter is getting married on New Year's Eve!! So, I'm stressing.
Hi Annie, I read about your troubles with sidebars and more with your new blog. I could help if you have a testblog that I can take a look at.
@Hans, thanks for the generous offer. Check your email. I set up a test blog.
Hi Annie, I did check my mail but didn't find anything. I'll send you a mail to your gmail.
I don't use them. but I would have to say del.icio.us. You have a wonderful blog.
@Rose, thank you for the kind words!
I've noticed those things but I don't really know what they're about yet ... Oy, Neanderthal!
@terence, Think of it as a bookmark or favorites away from home! I find them incredibly indispensable when I'm away from home.
Cool.
I signed up on that Google feature which allows one to have your own bookmarks when using a different PC, but that PC has to have the Google toolbar, so these social bookmarks are better.
Everyone familiar with social bookmarks probably finds this lack of knowledge lame :P)
@terence, I don't find it lame at all. I only recently discovered the wonderful world of social bookmarks. I knew of them before, and casually used them for blog purposes, but I now use BlinkList for my personal bookmarks.
Maybe I'm lame too :-(
Hi Annie,
I have scoured your site for instructions on how I might change the font in my header to something more western looking. I found a few different ones and downloaded but I'm lost as far as inserting it in the proper place and get it the right size etc. Blogger Beta only offers a few font styles and I would like something witha a little more flare.
Thanks if you can help.
@Janet, in my sidebar under 'BlogU's Tag Cloud', click on GIMP. There is a post - Tutorial: Custom Header for Blogger Using GIMP(ie add an image and different fonts). The other 2 posts that fall under that category help with border issues. Gimp is pretty awesome, and fun to play with.
As far as I know, the only way to change the font in a header is by this method.
Check back if you run across any problems.
Oh Annie thanks so much will head over there and see how I can make out. Will let you know. Love your very informative site. I will link to your site from mine with a button.
@Janet, thanks! Links are always appreciated.
Del.icio.us is the only one for me. I started out importing all my bookmarks (over a 1000). I bookmark everything, the pack-rat in me. The one thing I looked at with trying out other services is that most of them wouldn't import all of my bookmarks. Rawsugar was the only one that imported all of my bookmarks. Having it link to my del.icio.us feed also keeps it in sync.
I've been looking for a single button way to submit to all the social bookmarking available and was working with both Socializer and AddThis!. Seems like AddThis works the best and I have put it into my posts for automatic submition to all sites. Does anyone else have much experience with either of these.

Social Bookmarking On Blogger Beta. At first I tried useing Socializer but then switched it to use Add This which seems to work better
@ryan, I came very close to using Add This to my blog. I even tested it on my test blog. Liked it alot, and still play with the idea. The reason I didn't? I like Hans' bookmarks (over at Beautiful Beta) a bit better. I love the way the name pops us when you hoover over an icon. Maybe someday I will use Add This for a change of pace.
StumbleUpon. Maybe it's not strictly a bookmark thing but it's what I like to use and the only one I have as a bookmark on my browswer. I use delicious as a dumping ground but have not gone in there to look at anything for over a year.
I feel that this is really very nice and informative post which provide lot of useful information about Social Bookmarking.I really like this.

Social Bookmarking
I have gotten plenty of traffic from social bookmarks, though I should try using them some myself...
I like social bookmarkings, if we write a good title we can get a ton of readers!
My favorite is Delicious and also google bookmarks.
