Zooomr - the Photo Sharing site
Introducing...if you haven't already had the pleasure, Zooomr!! I was looking for a good place to upload my photos, since I now have my new Nikon D40 that my sweet, sweet husband gave to me for my birthday. I looked and researched until I was blue in the face. It finally came down to Zooomr and Flickr. There must be other differences between the two, but the one that really stood out for me is Zooomr is absolutely free!! Well, that cinched the deal. I am officially an Zooomr member.
Zooomr is free. There is no upload limit, bandwidth limit, download limit, file size limit, set limit, or number of photo limits. We believe in no limit photo sharing. We think it's about the best free photo sharing account you can get right now.
We do offer a way for people to upgrade to a Pro account if they want to see an ad free version of Zooomr (and more than this, if you want to support us…which we really need and means so much to us). Pro accounts are $19.95 per year. You will see Pro accounts for purchase on the welcome screen on Zooomr or by clicking on the Zooomr logo while on the site.
In addition to getting an advertisement free experience on Zooomr, Pro accounts also enjoy the ability to page Zooomr's popular Zipline feature. There is also a tab in our "Discover" section dedicated to Pro account users.
I use Zooomr to host the photos on my photoblog, SeaSide Sharon. If you happen by Zooomr, look me up and take a look at my photos. I'm anniebluesky over there. Keep in mind I'm learning about my new camera. There is so much to learn! If anyone has any pointers they would care to share about using a Nikon D40, email me!

I just checked out the site. Nice photos! Are those the d40? I picked one up around the holidays with a 55-200 VR lens. The camera is light years ahead of my point and shoot! Check out kenrockwell.com if you haven't already. He lists all settings he uses and absolutely recommends the camera. Enjoy!
@Free From Broke, Thanks! I LOVE taking pictures. All the photos on Zooomr are taken with the D40. On SeaSide Sharon, the ones from February on are taken with the D40.
I'm now saving for a new lens. My camera came with a 18-55 lens. I want to get a 55-200 or even better yet, sell the 18-55 and get a 18-200 lens. But, it is really pricey.
I am familiar with Rockwell's site. As a matter of fact, reading his articles really influenced my decision to get a Nikon D40.
I love my camera. But, like I said, I have so much to learn. I want to know it inside and out. Yesterday at a Fair, I was taling with a man about his camera, and he gave me a few pointers, but for the most part, he was talking way over my head. I guess it will come together eventually for me. Like a light.
I am on Flickr cause it has a group for anything and everything. I will have a look at Zooomr but I don't know if I will convert. The best thing about Flickr (to me) is the huge community there.
seen on post yes also tell us .. does it have any anti glare system in it like carl zess lens... Nancy
@nancyjones28, Ha, you are asking the wrong person. I don't know.
I checked out Zooomr yesterday and spent quite a bit of time there.
I found on the discussions that when they refresh the cache or update it, pictures on your blog get messed up. Your pictures get replaced with other members pics, which could be rather embarrasing for YOU! One persons pics were replaced by erotic type pics! It only lasts a few hours, but in the meantime, who's looking at your site!
I think I'll give Zooomr a wide berth for now..

That sounds pretty good. I have had a look at both Zoomr and your photos. Some great shots although they make me hungry which is not good. Probably see you on zoomr again.
I am also using the Zooomr and everyone can see my pictures out there. Its a wonderful place to upload the pictures.
I had never heard about Zooomr before and found flickr very good for picture sharing or picasa web albums.
Anyways no upload limit and bandwidth limit offer sounds interesting and their fees for no-ads is quite reasonable too. To keep up photos, they would need lots of power in the back in their servers and would need lots of bandwidth to keep things going.
Very nice camera, I want one!
Photo sharing is a blessing- just make sure you keep control of your photos- I use Pixamo in which every user must register and log in every time they want to view my non public content- This way I can control who sees each individual photo and video.
Zoomr looks nice, flickr might be even better though.
I went shopping for a camera recently and most of the camera shops on the net were known scammers. At least the ones giving out cheap prices, so be careful when in the market for a camera...
Very nice tip, going to look into right away. It is good to have an alternative to flickr to store my digital photos. Thanks you once again.
just bought this camera and i am absolutely loving it! thanks to your great post :)
When I look on this camera it reminds me of what my mom has, is it DS90? it is a very good one, especially when it comes with extra lenses.
Annie, do you also make movies? if so, what is your video camera of choice?
