LibraryThing widget for your blog
LibraryThing allows you to put your book titles online. You can enter 200 titles for free. For an unlimited amount of books, it is $10 for a year and $25 lifetime membership. Joining is extremely simple...no first name, last name, secret question, email address, repeat email address, jumping through hoops. Adding books to your collection is as easy as joining. Just type in the title or author. A selection will come up and you click a title. After joining and adding some books, you are able to see who shares the same books. There is an active forum for discussing books and anything else you want to get off your chest.
If you want to share your collection in your blog sidebar, a widget is offered. You can configure it as you like.

Looks to be good plugin..Are you fond of reading books?
I would like to find a plugin that would do the similar thing but instead of books would get the recent or selected pictures from the other websites where I keep my photos.
I understand that I can add the photos directly into the blog but I'd prefer to use the automated linking through a plugin instead because in my view the blog is for blogging and image library website like Flickr is for imaging.

listen, do you know where to find a widget that looks like a bookshelf ? Maybe it is not a widget, because it can take the space of the half of your page, but it looks cool. I saw it one of the blogs that I visited, I don't remember where it was.
when you hoover over a particular book that is on a shelf, it can take you to a page with more info or to the amazon store.

This widget sounds pretty interesting and useful. Can it be used to redirect the people who are interested in what books that I am reading directly to Amazon instead of the website itself?

I love books, and I've got gobs and gobs of bookshelves all over my house, so I could really go to town with this. What I want to know is(and what seems to be the most logical question) do they offer any kind of functionality to automatically tie these book titles into Amazon and integrate your Amazon affiliate code? Now THAT would be absolutely wonderful!

The Library Widget!
I have tries it, and I must admit that when it looks nicely, it is entirely connected to the site that created it. So even your books are placed on their site, and when someone visits your site, he or she may be redirected to their site. which is not god.
Very useful plugin for book lovers. Wonder if you could put am amazon link to the books in the widget and make some coffee money.

hey, a friend of mine has added this feature to his blog, and frankly speaking, it works a bit strangely. As you are connected to the mother site from your blog, so your visitors may leave your site quickly, just because it is so easy to click on the link leading you to the site of the Library shelf

@jobcentre, readers always have the option to leave your site at any given time...with or without you help. If they liked your site, they will return!

What a fabulous plugin! I love my books but it can be difficult to find storage space for all of them. I can also see the possibility for travel--no more lugging a suitcase full of books around! :)

Annie--what a fabulous plugin! I'm super excited about it! I guess now that the Kindle is out you may lose some subscriptions but frankly this is a lot more affordable than Kindle, so perhaps you won't. :)

The Librarywidget is an interesting concept for publishing books online. It seems to be more cost effective for new authors to get out their message then other online publishing vehicles. thanks for the interesting widget.
I think that when you want to add a widget, the first thing to consider is to ask yourself why do you need it and if you really need it. What is the purpose?
